Best part of forest  school is going outside and making jigsaws with friend's along with pond dipping.

I've improved at my survival skills and art with leaves. I have also improved in making friends and building dens and playing together. Beth & Jason

Forest school performance

In forest school this week some of 4EC preformed a pantomime based on the tale of Snow White. They had the audience laughing out loud at the silly comedy! The realistic pantomime mixed with the continuous jokes was show stopping. The actors spoke with fantastic clarity ,it was mesmerising. "My favoured part was when the cheeky zebra went and pulled a silly face at the hunter, when he tried to steal the Queens golden crown." Reuben
"My favourite part was when the hunter ran around crazy and then stopped when Snow White threw a delicious hot pie in his face." Posy

Our apples are being harvested!

Check out this apple pie made with apples from our orchard!
"It was tasty!"
"I can't believe they are from forest school!"
We were very proud to pick them and take them to the school kitchen.

Here is a game we played with some of the spare apples, we made a tree out of wood and had to balance on the logs to pick the apples under a time limit. It was tricky but really fun. Y3

Can you spot the elderberries? A, B or C?

At forest school last week we wen pond dipping and we found a newt and a green and black frog. After pond dipping we took part in the barefoot trail, it was exciting and fun because we got really muddy. Next we constructed a big den for you class to watch birds from. Finally we crafted homes for the little animals that live in forest school.

Our forest school feast!

We were so happy at our forest school club yesterday! Look at all the fruit that we picked! We have even made a strawberry and raspberry slushie, that we have put in the freezer for next week! Can't wait to try it!

My favourite part.....

The best part of forest school this time was making owl buddies, making stick men and pond dipping. 4CJ
‘Forest school is one of my favourites’ Oliver
‘ Making owl buddies was good because we could work independently and collaboratively’ Sinead
‘ Pond dipping was good because we could see newts swimming in the trays, the species trays’ Josh
‘Making stick men was great because you could use your imagination and play whatever you wanted with them.’ Sinead.

Stick People take over our forest!

In Forest  School  we had lots of fun making stickmen using googly eyes and resources around Forest School. We then worked in groups to make up stories and turn it into a play. My play was about a wedding that got ruined by Mr Evil but super stick came and saved the day! We chose to use the orchard because the stick couple wanted to get married amongst nature. We all shared the responsibility of making silly and fun sound effects. Emily 4CJ.

My play was about a soldier  who saved  the whole, entire world. He was in a jet and sacrificed himself for everyone. For the jet,  I used a plank of wood that I found in Forest School. I thought about the animation of how he flew the jet and how it could be made into a film. George 4CJ.

We have bluebells at forest school!

Now we need to work out if they are native UK bluebells or foreign imposters! We will get our magnifying glasses out next lesson!

6NA John Muir Projects

TWO of the projects have been completed, a week early, in forest school!
Firstly, how fantastic is Oliver's rotating, recycled wheel bird feeder!
Also take a look at Keira, Olivia and Melissa's wonderful bird house that is sitting happily on a silver birch tree, waiting for its first visitors!
Can't wait to see what projects are finished next! 

4CF Bridges by Jodie

Dear F.S Diary,
Last week in forest school we had to build bridges. We had to create mini bridges and large bridges. The mini bridges had to hold a toy dinosaur. The large bridge had to hold a teacher. Most of the bridges held the teachers some didn’t. There was also gardening we had to paint the borders.

Building Bridges! 5JJ

Take a look at our BIG and small bridges! Some we made human sized, making them strong enough to hold our team. Some we made tiny for toys, to see which design was most successful. What do you think?

Morse Code Secret Messages- Can you crack the code?

Can you work out what these dashes and dots say to find where the creature was hidden in forest school?

4CF created Morse code clues using sticks and stones, they did a fantastic job and all the creatures were found! Well done!

Oliver the Pond Whisperer!

Oliver has been living up to his nickname this week by catching 3 newts from the pond.
He said "One had a thin tail, the other had a thick tail and one had orange stripes." Oliver is going to research to find out what these characteristics mean. Can you find out before him?

Forest creatures 4cf

Today in  4cf we went  to  the garden to  pick  leaves, sticks and stones, then we went back into the class room to make our forest creatures. We designed them to look real using materials from the garden. When we have finished them, they might look like a proper animal.  We will put up some photos when they are complete. What did you make? Thanks. By Finley 4cf

Pancake Day

This half term, we were very lucky to start back at forest school on pancake day!
The rain meant we couldn't have a campfire so 3LE made mud pancakes instead!
We even had our own Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood to judge the best.
Photos to follow!

The sunshine shone on Wednesday so 6NA had the real thing! Sous chef Seb poured the mix and provided the whole class with pancakes. "This is delicious" was one of the many comments. Well done Seb!

What word would you use to describe your pancake?

Year 3's awesome animal houses!

Year 3 made some fantastic animal houses this week, they thought hard about these factors to make a suitable shelter:

Wind
Wet
Warmth
Predators
Design

We can't wait to see if anything is living in them next week! Well done year 3!

Our new frog house; the Frogilo!

A huge well done to Jade and Ally (with some extra helpers) for installing our first frog house to help the frogs stay warm during this cold weather we are experiencing! It looks fantastic and we are looking forward to seeing the first residents!

6SW Super Shelter Models

Due to the terrible winds last week, we stayed inside for a model shelter building competition!
Here are some of the entries, which do you think should win?
